Snowmobile Trail Plans

News

Snowmobilers are hoping to develop a groomed trail system in Ward and McLean Counties.

Today, representatives from a local snowmobile club asked commissioners in both counties to help make that happen.
The Sakakawea Fence Stretchers are looking for permission to groom trails from the Garrison area north to near Sawyer to tie into other trails.

An official with the group says its members would take care of the trails – including installing and removing signs that add to the safety of riders.

(Rusty Klabunde, Sakakawea Fence Stretchers) “You at least have signage that marks where your hazards are, where you should be stopping, where your culverts are. We’d have to go out and mark all of that prior to snowfall and then we’d have to remove all the signage after winter season is over. “

Ward County commissioners sent the request to department heads for input before approving the request.
