North America’s Largest Scandinavian Festival is at its midpoint.
The Norsk Høstfest began Wednesday and runs through Saturday. Jim Olson is live at the Høstfest grounds to tell us about some award winners.
That’s right, Høstfest presented some coveted Dala Horse Awards to a select few vendors yesterday.
In plenty of time for you to check them out when you visit the festival.
In the food category, a couple of the winners were here in Stockholm Hall.
Viking on a Stick – operated by the Heritage Singers – and Daarthes Sandwiches were the focus of some mini-ceremonies yesterday.
(Debbie Deaver, Daarthes Sandwiches) “We have Daarthe’s Bread Pudding, and Daarthe was my great grandma that came from Norway. So now we decided to do sandwiches so we have a three-meat pannini, we have a caprice pannini, and we have a vegetarian wrap.”
(Mark Priess, Viking On A Stick) “They’re a wonderful seasoned meatball, baked, and then dipped in batter and put on a stick, we deep fry them a little bit and they’re just heaven on a stick.”
There were other awards presented yesterday too – including in the crafts category. I’ll show you a couple of those outstanding vendors later this hour.
And I’ll tell you how a longtime Høstfest volunteer received a special award that tied into all of this.
