Soup kitchens staying open for the holidays

The holidays are known as a time to be with family and enjoy traditions that often involve food.

For those without either, local soup kitchens are essential. Churches in Minot share the task of running a soup kitchen each day of the week. The volunteers provide a hot meal and company.

On Christmas Day, the soup kitchen will be at the Grand International for a free community meal.

“It’s a passion and the people that do it, it’s on their heart. And it’s special to be able to give back to others,” says Lisa Pickett, Soup Kitchen Volunteer.

Heavens Helpers Soup Cafe will also be open Christmas Eve and Day for those in Bismarck while Angel 37 Kitchen in Dickinson will be open on New Years.
