News

The Minot Optimist Club announced the winner of its first Big Give campaign.

Three non-profits delivered ten-minute presentations last week, which were scored by members of the Optimist Club.

The Souris Valley Animal Shelter will receive 10-thousand dollars for the next five years, totaling 50-thousand.

“They are going to put it towards their capital campaign, their expansion, and are going to have I believe it’s a read to the animals room that will be sponsored by the Optimists,” said Terri Philion, President and Board Chair of Minot Optimist Club. “They’re also going to invite the Optimist Club to continue to partner by maybe providing new books, or maybe coming in with groups of children to read to the animals.”

The non-profits were scored on project sustainability, impact on the community, demographic served and Optimist Club recognization.

The shelter currently has 50 animals up for adoption.
