Souris Valley United Way Welcomes Richard Berg

The Souris Valley United Way welcomes a new Executive Director this month.

Richard Berg has lived in Minot for almost 40 years.

<<(Rich Berg/Incoming Executive Director, SVUW) “It really is all about working together to make that bigger impact.”

That’s what drew Rich Berg to pursue the Executive Director position at the Souris Valley United Way.

(Berg) “It just felt right.”

After 34 years working for the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, he said he’s excited for this new chapter.

His goals are right in line with the mission of the United Way.

(Patricia Smith, Outgoing Executive Director, SVUW) “We always want to make sure that we have an impact on the community with the funds that are raised and assure the donors that their dollars stay in the community.”

Smith will retire on July 28th, but until then she’s helping to make the transition as smooth as possible.

(Smith) “I’ve met so many people. I’ve had a great relationship with all the nonprofits in the community. I know that they do really good things.”

The Souris Valley United Way supports partnerships with 25 agencies in the Minot area.

Berg said he’s ready for the career change and the challenge of helping his hometown.

(Berg) “That’s really where I’m at in my stage in my career. I want to make an impact in the community in which I live.”
