A highway intersection that had a deadly car crash caught the attention of the Department of Transportation and now safety changes have been made.

On US Highway 83 from Ruthville to the Minot Air Force Base, the speed has been reduced and it is in affect today.

The speed limit used to be seventy miles per hour – now that speed dropped to fifty-five.

The DOT made this move to enhance safety in this area.

Earlier in the year, community members met with the DOT to further discuss how to make the intersection safer for travelers.

The DOT says they will continue to work with locals on other potential safety enhancements.
