Spin United raises funds for local programs

One in six children in the US face hunger according to No Kid Hungry. The Souris Valley United Way is working to help children in need with their annual Spin United fundraiser.

14 teams of six brought out their best costumes to cycle the furthest in just 20 minutes each. Together the participants raised around seven thousand dollars to go towards programs like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and Backpack Buddies.

“We have a lot of children in Minot that aren’t eating on the weekends which is heartbreaking to know, but $10 goes back to Backpack Buddies and that helps one child eat for an entire weekend,” says Jalisa Andreasen, Souris Valley United Way Outreach Specialist.

One team’s entry fee alone could help over 200 children eat for a weekend.
