St. Michael man sentenced for involuntary manslaughter

A 52-year-old man is sentenced to 5 years in prison for killing a young boy with his car.
Richard Jackson of St. Michael was sentenced for involuntary manslaughter in federal court Wednesday.
On May 21st of 2016 Jackson was driving a vehicle while drunk.
He was speeding when he hit the 5-year-old boy.
The boys sister said Jackson stopped his car, and his girlfriend then checked on the boy.
She told Jackson the boys was dead and the two left the scene.
The girlfriend later called law enforcement to say Jackson hit the boy with his vehicle.
Accident reconstruction showed Jackson was traveling 59 mph in a 40 mph zone at the time of the accident.
