One of the candidates trying to run for the position of Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Chairman is not eligible to run.
A federal court decision has denied a request by Archie Fool Bear to be allowed to take part.
Fool Bear is allegedly in debt to the tribe according to court documents.
The debt stems from issues in 2001, according to the Tribe.
Fool Bear was allowed to run for Tribal office in 2013 despite owing the same debt.
Fool Bear attempted to get a court injuction to stop the Tribal Chairman Election which is scheduled for tomorrow, July 19th.
U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland has denied the emergency request and the election will go on as scheduled.
Defendents in the case include current Chairman Dave Archambault along with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the Tribal Council.
