Bismarck – It’s been nearly a year since one local bank installed solar panels on the roof of one of its branches.
And they couldn’t be happier with the results.
Last June, Starion Bank installed the Solar panels on their North Washington Street location.
They tell us the idea came from positive results they received from a location in Wisconsin.
The bank tells us, while the panels were quite expensive, the amount of money they are now saving should pay for the panels in less than 10 years.
Officials say based on how much money they are saving, it’s a move they should have done a lot sooner.
“Through the first nine months, our numbers indicate that we have reduced the amount of power that we are purchasing to the site by 70-percent” Said Starion CEO Craig Larson.
The bank adds they have plans to add solar panels to three more local locations, two in downtown Bismarck and one in Mandan.
Installation on one of the downtown Bismarck location could happen later this year.
