It’s hard to believe that Father’s Day is in only two months – and this year, that weekend also brings Ribfest.
There’s one change this year but it’s not the food or the fun.
(Tom Ross/Founder, Minot Ribfest) “We kind of dubbed it the start of summer.”
That’s Tom Ross – the man who decided to bring vendors in to the Magic City for its very own RibFest.
(Tom Ross/Former Coordinator, Minot Ribfest) “They travel across the country and they’ve got multiple awards for their barbeque and they’re really, they’re the best of the best.”
After two years of organizing the event, Ross is handing it over to the North Dakota State Fair Center.
(Ross) “We absolutely love the event, we have no ill about it. We just want the event like this to grow, we know Minot can support it.”
(Renae Korslien/Manager, North Dakota State Fair) “I think the more activity and the things that we can provide for people to do, it’s a good thing. It was a long winter and so we’re ready for summer fun and just another plan.”
So Ross may be sort of throwing in the towel, but come June 16th he’ll be with the rest of them, reaching for one to clean up after a spread of hearty barbeque.
(Ross) “The combination of great entertainment, family activities and world champion barbeque. You put those three things together and it’s successful.”
The festival will be June 16th through the 18th, with bounce houses and activities for kids, and plenty of food for the whole family.
Not only that, but a Journey tribute band is also scheduled to perform, along with some more live bands for the whole weekend.
