Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem filed a memorandum on Tuesday to resume oil and gas lease sales in North Dakota.
Judge Daniel Traynor, in federal district court in Bismarck, will review the motion.
New oil and gas leasing permits and drilling were canceled early this year by the Biden administration.
Stenehjem claims the cancellation of the March and June auctions have cost the state over $80 million in revenue, and that could grow in the coming months.
