As Labor Day weekend quickly approaches, state parks are preparing for one more big weekend.
Bill Demming at Lake Metigoshe State Park says that Labor Day weekend is the second busiest weekend of the summer – with the 4th of July being the first.
They have seven cabins that are sold out and about 124 campsites that are nearly booked for the weekend.
Park Interpreters will be hosting programs and as always canoes and kayaks will be available to rent.
“It’s the end of the season. We see all our campers come one last time. After Labor Day it really tails off but the weather is usually cooler, the leaves are changing,” said Bill Demming, Park Manager.
Demming says that they are have about 600 more campers than they had at this time last year.
