It’s tax day, and last-minute filers will be busy, working to beat the midnight deadline tonight for filing their tax returns.
The North Dakota Tax Commissioner’s Office wants to help. It will have extended office hours today until 8:00 p.m., for those who have questions on filing or want to seek filing extensions.
You can visit the office on the 16th floor of the Capitol building or call the office at 701-328-1247.
As of yesterday, over 356,000 North Dakota individual income tax returns have been processed.
If you need extra time to file your taxes, you need to file a Form 4868, an application for an extension. However, you still need to make some payment by April 15th to avoid tax penalties and interest.
The tax commissioner’s office can guide you to the forms and information you need. You can also visit the state tax website at https://www.nd.gov/tax/.
You can also get Form 4868 and other tax forms and information at the IRS website at www.irs.gov.
