The Bismarck road crews are done using brine and are now using a new beet substance along with salt on the streets.
It’s a new product that’s said to have more ingredients to break down ice faster and stay on longer.
This month alone, public works has used up a budget of $300,000 on operations. That includes hauling snow and sand.
Roads and Streets Supervisor, Keith Glass, says this past weekend was a challenge for crew members.
“Vehicles are a big hindrance. We had vehicles Saturday morning stuck all over our streets. On this day off we are just trying to get the streets cleared to open it up safe for the traveling public. Parked cars are another thing you know,” said Glass.
They will be monitoring the downtown area since we are expecting more snow Wednesday evening.
