First graders from Surrey Elementary took a field trip to learn about the importance of plant life in Minot this morning.
The Surrey first graders toured Lowe’s Floral shop and studied plant life.
Students learned about the life stages that plants go through and how they impact human life.
While touring the business, students were shown by the professionals—how they handle each type of plant and how they have to adjust to climate conditions.
(Kelsey Vetter, 1st Grade Teacher) “I think it’s really important to understand that we need them and to perseve them. Having plants is what keeps us alive and not to destroy them or get rid of them- learn the conservation of plants and to start understanding that at a young age.”
This is a field trip, first graders at Surrey get to go on every year.
