A Chinese study suggests eating an egg every day may help reduce the risk of heart disease.

Published in the journal, “Heart,” the study of more than 500,000 people in China over a four year period found, “a moderate level of egg consumption (up to <1 egg/day) was significantly associated with lower risk of CVD [cardiovascular disease].”

The study noted, while eggs are a source of dietary cholesterol, they are also a source for “high-quality protein, many vitamins and bioactive components such as phospholipids and carotenoids.”

The research also found daily egg consumption lowered the risk of stroke.
