When it comes to issues involving student debt, North Dakotans are doing fairly well.
That’s according to a new study by personal finance website, WalletHub.
The researchers ranked North Dakota 32nd among the other states and the District of Columbia when they combined and weighted various categories such as highest average student debt, proportion of students with student loan debt, student loan debt as a percentage of total household income and other areas.
For example, North Dakota has one of the lowest percentages of resident with student loan balances past due or in default.
South Dakota tops the list due to its high percentage of students with loans and low opportunities for grants and student work, among other factors.
