The ice has officially melted on the water and that means people can get outside and fish on North Dakota lakes.
The manager at the Upper Souris Refuge predicts that there will be plenty of walleye in the lakes.
The perch population is almost non-existent and the refuge is working to build that up.
For the pike fisherman, there is a few swimming around in the lakes but the numbers aren’t high.
“There’s a lot of room out there and all our boats ramps are functional and we’ve got all the docks in after the long spring that we had so everything should be in good shape, ready to be used,” said Tom Padian, Upper Souris Refuge Manager.
In order to fish in North Dakota you must have your fishing license.
You must renew your fishing license every year.
