North Dakotans are considered nice, friendly people, but they apparently aren’t as giving as two-thirds of the nation.

They do like to volunteer, though.

A WalletHub ranking of the most charitable giving states puts North Dakota at #33, based on various key measures such as volunteer rates, share of income donated and share of sheltered homeless.

North Dakotans rank in the upper half in terms of volunteerism — #22 — but come in toward the bottom at #36 for charitable giving.

The state also ranks at #46 in terms of the percent of income donated to charitable needs.

However, North Dakota also ranks at #3 in the nation in terms of highest percent of population collecting and/or distributing food.

Minnesota earned the top spot as the most giving state.
