Suspect In Bismarck Hit And Run In Custody

News

Bismarck – The suspect wanted in a hit and run accident late last week in Bismarck is now in custody.

Bismarck Police say a 21-year-old man from Bismarck has been arrested in connection with the crash that injured a 59-year-old Mandan woman.

Police say the suspect fled the scene of the crash, that occurred Friday afternoon because he was nervous that he had a small amount of Marijuana in his possession.

He then reported to a local Burger King for work. When Police arrived to the Burger King, the manager lied to police about his whereabouts before other employees told police the truth.

Police then compared his time card to the time of the accident and he was taken into custody.

He faces two Class C felonies of reckless endangerment and failure to perform duty in an accident that resulted in serious injury.

Witnesses told police he was making a turn onto Sixth street from Rosser Avenue Friday afternoon when he struck the 59-year-old woman.

She was taken from the scene to Sanford Health, police did not have an update on her condition.

Police also add the Manager of the Burger King could also face charges but so far nothing formal has been filed.
