An officer was nearly ran over by a suspect around midnight according to the Surrey Police Department.
At 12:03am, Surrey Police say an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle for a speeding violation near 86th St. NE and County Road 12.
About 1.5 miles later, the vehicle pulled over at the intersection of County Road 12 and Pleasant Avenue North.
When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver sped away and struck the officer, nearly running the officer over.
The officer followed the vehicle to the 100 Block of 2nd Avenue NE in Surrey.
Then the suspect fled on foot and eventually was captured by the officer.
Surrey Police say that the suspect was arrested for driving under the influence, fleeing in a motor vehicle, refusal to halt, driving under suspension, and aggravated assault on a police officer.
