Progressing technology may be the cause of a large job disruption phase in as little as 5-10 years.
Emily Medalen is live in studio with Marlo Anderson tell us what types of jobs are at risk.
Hi Tim and Alysia, last week, Marlo and I talked about the fact that technology will be eliminating, or changing many jobs in the near future.
This is because robots will be taking over many of the jobs that we have right now.
Marlo, let’s talk about public transportation.
Hundreds of thousands of people are Uber or Lyft drivers, truck drivers, taxi drivers… what can they expect to see in the next few years?
In the next 10 years, almost all vehicles will be autonomous. The public transportation industry will essentially be done, and taken over by these cars.
Let’s talk about Personal Air Vehicles while we’re on the topic of autonomous driving.
Yes, personal air vehicles, a.k.a. flying cars, aren’t too far out either. They will use drone space to regulate that.
Why is this going to be such a positive change?
It will be much safer. More than 90% of accidents are due to human error, and that will be eliminated. It will also give us free time to catch up on phone calls, e-mails, etc. as our vehicles drive us around.
