The Høstfest would never happen without a small army of volunteers.
Thousands of people donate their time to help out in everything from selling coffee to taking tickets.
And this morning, those volunteers got a small ‘thank you’ from Høstfest officials – a free breakfast served at Reykjavik Hall.
Dozens and dozens of sweet rolls were delivered well before sunrise – and were paired with eggs and sausage and, of course, coffee.
It all happens thanks to – what else? – volunteers.
Brenda Reckleberg directs the event – and is charge of two restaurants at the festival as well.
(Brenda Reckelberg, Høstfest Volunteer & Merchant) “We run both the Scandi Kitchen and the Baroness of Beef here. I have about 50 cases of salmon that we’ll probably go through. 30 cases of cod, so a lot of fish that we go through. A lot of beef – we’ll make over 3,000 probably close to 4,000 meatballs for Høstfest.”
