The Dangers of Heart Disease

Heart disease claims the lives of one in three women –
That’s one woman every 80 seconds.
February is heart health awareness month, and we want to make sure you stay healthy and safe from heart attacks.

Dr. Sean Russell is a cardiovascular surgeon with Sanford health, and says it’s crucial to be aware of common symptoms of heart disease.
These symptoms include chest pain. shortness of breath, and pain in your neck, jaw, or throat.
He said many patients with heart disease also experience pressure they describe as feeling like an elephant is sitting on their chest.
Dr. Russell says the biggest issues arise when patients are in denial of these symptoms.
