News

Music is in the air at the opening of the first ever North Dakota Country Fest.

Cowboy boots, cowboy hats  and country music all mark the music festival’s opening under the watchful eye of New Salem Sue.

Some locals have come out to see the stars of the show..

“Who are you most excited to see today?
“Michael Ray and Canaan Smith,” Shanna Greene, country music fan says.

While others are cheering for their very own home town entertainer.

“[We’re here to see] Cowboy Joe, for sure,” Hailey Mills, country music fan says.

Cowboy Joe, a North Dakota Native will grace the stage hosting the country music stars.

“It’s been my dream for my whole life to be in a band and get to play big shows like this,” Cowboy Joe, ND Country Fest M.C. says.

Musical acts will range from Canaan Smith to Michael Ray along with local bands like “32 Below” and Cowboy Joe’s own “Harmon Lake.”

And it feels really good to be out here with these folks and we’re going to turn up and get this place all started,” Cowboy Joe says.

For North Dakota country music fans, the first ever country music festival is special .

They get to see the bands they love right in their own backyard.

“We’re country music lovers, we like to travel to a lot of  concerts, we’ve been to Vegas party for a cause we’re hear for a good time,” Greene says

“[It’s] long overdue should have been done years ago. I go to WE Fest a lot and it’s nice having something for the people of North Dakota,” Darrell Miller, country music fan says.

ND Country Fest is kicking off summer and hopefully a new country music destination.

Show runners say they hope to see more than 4,000 people enjoy the festival.
