We all have our favorite ice cream flavors and our favorite toppings, but usually we are limited to the combinations we can make.
But with a Whirla-Whip machine the possibilities are endless.
Whirla-Whip machines are considered the original blizzard maker and they date back to the 1950’s.
These machines are no longer made and there’s only one known original Whirla-Whip still around in the US and it’s right here in North Dakota.
Which one do you think is the best?
“Peanut butter and banana,” said Maren Feiring.
What’s your flavor?
“One of the best ones was the dill pickle,” said Brent Rodenhider, Former Owner.
Whatever it may be, you have a whole list of options to choose from.
“Strawberry blueberry is wonderful,” said Feiring.
Maren Feiring discovered her love for whirla-whips as a kid and used to travel from Tioga to get one.
“We came over to Stanley all the time to get Whirla-Whips,” said Feiring.
She gave whirla-whips a good recommendation and convinced me to try my very first one.
I’m going to take her advice and get the peanut butter banana.
“I mean there’s just no comparison to anything out there anywhere,” said Rodenhider.
“Soft ice cream but better and you can mix flavors. Perfect,” said Feiring.
When it came time to try my first Whirla-Whip treat – I kept going back for more.
“It’s delicious,” said Feiring.
And I’m not the only person who’s traveled to try this treat – people from near and far visit Stanley for this.
“We even had some people from Egypt come in to have the whirla-whip,” said Rodenhider.
As you can see there are several people who have traveled from out of town to visit the whirl a whip machine and since I’m from Minnesota, it’s now my turn to add my name to the book.
“Don’t go another day without another one,” said Feiring.
The Whirla-Whip machine is located inside Dakota Drug.
