The score: Bat-wielding grandma 1, half naked burglary suspect 0

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL/CBS NEWSPATH) — Gainesville Police say a 65-year-old woman hit an underwear-clad man with a baseball bat after he attempted to break into her car early Sunday morning.

A report says the man she hit was 37-year-old Antonio Mosley. He was arrested by police shortly after the incident and charged with attempted burglary to both an occupied and unoccupied conveyance and possession of a controlled substance.

Officers say they were called to NE 16th Avenue at around 5:40 a.m. after the victim saw Mosley in his underwear attempting to break into her vehicle.

According to the report, the woman opened her front door to confront Mosley, when he charged at her half-naked.

Police say she struck Mosley on the side of his head with a baseball bat in self-defense, sending him running to a nearby mobile home.

Officers found Mosley’s jeans, a shirt and one sock in the parking lot. A K-9 unit tracked down Mosley and he was arrested about two hours later with a gash on his head.

Cocaine was found on Mosley’s person after he was arrested, the report says.
