The U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Elaine Chao was in Bismarck today.
She took the Heritage Center stage along with Senator John Hoeven and Congressman Kevin Cramer, among others.
Governor Doug Burgum welcomed her for the American Conservative Union Foundation’s policy summit on energy and infrastructure.
The Governor says the highlight of today’s discussion was about Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
The Governor adds, “We’re no longer fly over country for this administration. People are coming, they’re listening and they know North Dakota’s got an important role to play, particularly in energy and agriculture. It’s great that we’re building these relationships because they can really help us clear the path.”
In May, Secretary Chao announced the North Dakota Department of Transportation was one of ten applicants nationwide picked for the UAS pilot program.
