Nationally, 1 in 5 children age 13 to 18 live with a mental health condition according to The Village.

In hopes to combat some of the issues our kids face – The Village which is a family service center and the Souris Campus Alternative High School are working together.

Once a week a mental health counselor will be in the school for teens to talk to.

This counselor can assess student needs, create a treatment plan, and determine ways to address the issue.

“It’s important to have support wherever it is or whatever it will look like so I think it’s great that schools are wanting to have a collaboration with mental health therapists,” said Angele Curtis, The Village Clinical Counselor.

Therapy sessions can be weekly or bi-weekly.

And, services are also available for faculty and staff.
