Three brine spills in two days reported to ND Oil and Gas Division

Three different brine spills occurred in three days in western North Dakota.
The Oil and Gas Division is reporting spills near New Town, Fortuna and Williston.
The largest spill is reported on a saltwater disposal site 8 miles south of Williston.


Oasis Petroleum reported 4,050 barrels of brine released due to a pipeline leak on Thursday, October 18th.
Everything was contained on site and almost all of it had been recovered.


650 barrels of brine spilled because of a valve leak two miles SW of Fortuna.
Murex Petroleum reported ths spill Monday that occurred Saturday the 20th.
All of those barrels have been recovered.


And Marathon Oil Company says 300 barrels were spills because of a valve leak SW of New Town on Thursday the 18th.
That spill has been contained.
