Thursday’s PM Forecast Update 3/16

From the KX Storm Center:

Across Western & Central ND today, we are under cloudy skies with scattered rain/mix on radar. This change-up is due to a warm front that is associated with a quick moving clipper. Through the rest of this evening more scattered precip will fall across the Dakotas. With afternoon temperatures ranging from the 30s into the 60s, most of our precip is liquid with some mix over parts of NE & North Central ND. This clipper will continue tracking East with tapering precip chances this evening & tonight. In the wake of this system, winds will pick up and become moderate to strong followed by some clearing.
We will wrap up the work week under a mixture of sunshine & cloud cover and a West/NW wind that will become gusty at times with peak gusts potentially pushing the 30-40 mph + benchmark. If winds pick up this much, a Wind Advisory may be issued for parts of North Dakota for Friday. Through the weekend, winds will still be breezy with in & out clouds and temps climbing into the 40s & 50s. Very Nice! Sunday & Sunday night will be our next chance for rain/mix. The beginning of the work week will bring more sunshine with temps falling into a seasonable range before warming back up. A couple of the long-range models are pointing to the chance of another round of mix/snow Wednesday with light accumulations possible.
Tonight, precip chances will end as cloud cover moves out. It will feel a little cool with temps well above average and winds picking up. Lows in the 20s & 30s with a SW/West wind 5-15mph G20, picking up late.
Friday, continued clearing early revealing plenty of sunshine with a moderate to strong wind and continued warming temps. Highs in the 30s & 40s with a W/NW wind 20-30mph & gusty.
Friday night will be mostly clear and a little cool. Lows in the teens & 20s with a NW/SE wind 5-15mph G20 and calming a bit before picking back up Saturday.
Saturday, mostly sunny to partly cloudy with in & out clouds and still breezy. Highs in the 40s & 50s with a few 60s and a SE wind 10-20mph.
Saturday night, still a little cool with mostly clear to partly cloudy conditions. Lows in the 30s & 40s with a South/West wind 5-15mph G20.
