Thursday’s PM Forecast Update2/23

From the KX Storm Center:
Across the state, an active weather pattern continues with cloudy skies, a chilly feel and a light to moderate wind that is a little gusty at times and out of the North/NE. This light wind is making it feel like it is in the teens with a few 20s. There is a little bit of fog/haze developing over parts of Southwest ND this afternoon. More fog is expected overnight, reducing visibility for many. Lingering fog/haze will lift up and burn off tomorrow, before we see more sunshine later on Friday. Winds remain a little breezy at times and temps will continue to fall into the 20s & 30s for highs and slightly below average for this time of the year. Off/on light snow & flurries will continue through the end of the work week and weekend. Light accumulations will be possible for some with more clearing at times.
Through the latter half of the weekend and into next week, more sunshine is expected with continued chilly temps. A mid-week system will bring higher snow chances with accumulating snow possible.
All said and done, no significant systems are expected through the weekend. Temps will stay near and slightly below average for this time of the year. Snow chances will be off/on as a major winter system moves through South Dakota & Nebraska. This system will bring high accumulations to affected areas. However, for Western & Central ND we will be on the north side of this low. This is why we are expecting waves of off/on light snow with little to no accumulation expected and winds becoming light to moderate and gusty at times.
Tonight, mostly cloudy with developing fog for many. There will be some clearing and a chilly feel. Lows in the teens with a few 20s& single digits and a North wind 2-12mph. Chills in the teens & single digits.
Friday will bring a little more clearing (after fog clears out) with more sunshine expected and a cool feel. Highs in the 20s & 30s with a North wind 5-15mph G20.
Friday night will be chilly with in & out clouds and calming winds. Lows in the teens with a few 20s and a NW/West wind 2-12mph. Chills in the teens & single digits.
Saturday will bring returning clouds with scattered light snow possible. Highs in the 20s & 30s with a NW/NE wind 5-15mph and a 20% chance for scattered snow.
Saturday night, mostly cloudy skies with scattered snow rolling through the state. Lows in the teens with an East/West wind 5-15mph G20.
