Tips to Keep Your Nose in Tip-Top Shape


Nosebleeds can be pretty common during North Dakota’s dry and cold winter months.

Even with a humidifier, sometimes it’s not enough to stop the bleed.
We sat down with an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor and talked about the simple steps you can take to keep your nose from drying out.
Doctor Johnson says the most important thing is to replace the moisture the cold weather takes away.

Kyle Johnson; Department Chair of Otolaryngology: Saline sprays or washes, watery saline, salt, and water. Saline gel, which is probably my top favorite. And just vasoline. It actually works pretty well and most people already have that in their house.”

Johnson says about one in three patients that come in for persistent nosebleeds need nose cauterization.
