To fish in N.D., make sure you have a license, not a guide

The North Dakota Game Wardens Association wants people to know a guidebook isn’t a fishing license.

In a post to its Facebook page, the association felt compelled to issue a reminder that the only way to purchase a North Dakota license online is through the Game and Fish website.

Apparently, a number of people have been purchasing “guides” online at other websites on how to become licensed anglers. Many of the people have assumed the guides were, in fact, actual licenses.

They’re not.

If you’re fishing in North Dakota and show a guide as your license to a Game and Fish official, you’ll get a fine in return.

You can learn more about getting a real license at the Game and Fish website.
