The Mandan homicide has not only rocked the community but our entire state. But no one is affected more than the families of the four victims.
KX News was allowed inside RJR for the first time since Monday’s tragedy. We were there as Jackie Fakler, the wife of Robert Fakler, addressed the media, her employees, and the entire community.
Jackie Fakler opened her statement by extending her thanks to the community for their on-going support. And although emotional, she painted a beautiful picture of the impacts her four RJR family members had on the lives of so many.
She explains, “We lost sons, daughters, husbands, fathers, brothers, grandfathers, grandmothers, sisters, loving wife, mother and some of our closest friends.”
Fakler said it’s impossible to describe her four RJR family members in a few words, but her love was felt around the room.
She shares, “Lois brought joy into work every morning, greeting everyone with ‘You are my sunshine’.”
Fakler told us William and Lois Cobb had just purchased their dream home. Left behind, are their four children and grandchildren.
Fakler described all of the victims, “Adam was quiet, loyal; an all-around family man. He loved camping nature and spending time with his children.”
The employees even laughed a little as she described her husband as opinionated but constructive.
Fakler shares, “He was my husband, my kiss in the morning to wake me up, the best father to his kids, a great son to his mom, and his grandchildren will be missing their papa.”
She thanked her employees for their bravery in wanting to be back at work so soon. At least 20, held one another as they supported Fakler through a message no one hopes they’ll ever have to give.
Fakler reminded everyone that RJR’s doors will be closed Tuesday for funeral services.
She also extended her gratitude to the Mandan PD as well as all the state agencies involved.
