The individual killed in the crash has been identified as 45-year-old Katie Richards — a former star basketball player from the University of North Dakota.
Richard helped the university win four NCAA division II national tournaments — 3 of which occurred all in a row from 1997 to 1999, and was at one point named Miss Basketball North Dakota. In a statement, the school’s athletics department wrote on their website that “Richards is widely regarded as on of the greatest players to put on the basketball uniform at UND.”
She leaves behind four children, and at the time of her death, she was the director of Student Success and Disability at Mayville State University.

REYNOLDS, ND (KXNET) — One person was killed early Thursday morning in a single-vehicle rollover about 8 miles west of Reynolds in eastern North Dakota.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the driver was heading south on 22nd Avenue Northeast shortly after midnight when the driver went through a T-intersection, drove off the highway into a ditch and rolled.
The driver died in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
