Plans to bring a residential drug treatment facility to McKenzie County may not move forward.
At a meeting Thursday evening, the Alex township voted not to recommend approval to the McKenzie County Planning and Zoning Commission. The township board said their decision was based on the fact that about two-thirds of the township’s voters had signed a petition opposing the treatment facility.
However, the McKenzie County planning and zoning director did give approval in a staff report that will also be submitted to the planning and zoning commission.
The commission will meet on July 9th. Its recommendation will go to the McKenzie County Board of Commissioners, which will make the final decision about whether the treatment facility can move forward.
