The thrice-canceled trial of a Minot man accused of eight felonies including attempted murder has been re-scheduled for next month.
Javontez Barnes is accused of robbing a grocery store, burglarizing an apartment, assaulting an ex-girlfriend, and shooting a man who was in her home.
His attorney argued today he deserved a trial for the case that’s been on the books since early last year.
The prosecution has been granted delays because the victim of the shooting is still hospitalized and unable to testify.
But today, Barnes’s attorney said his guarantee of a speedy trial has been ignored.
The trial is now set to begin September 17th.
