Tuesday’s Forecast Update 10/4

From the KX News Dakota Storm Center:

Today we have seen a mixture of sunshine & cloud cover with a moderate to strong breeze out of the South & SW. This breeze will continue with more clouds rolling in and the return of precip chances. Across Western ND, expect higher rain chances with showers becoming a wintry mix as temps continue to fall. Rain/mix will continue with showers & flurries remaining scattered. Soil temps are well above freezing, so little to no accumulation is expected in areas that are affected by mix/flurries. Also, winds will stay moderate to strong through the next couple of days and I would not be surprised if a series of Wind Advisories is issued for parts of our area. As a low pressure system gradually moves North into Canada and East, we will see precip chances come to an end Thursday & Friday. The end of our work week will also bring clearing skies and calming winds. Day by day, temperatures will fall into a much cooler range. Thursday we will start off with temps in the 30s and chills in the 20s and by Friday & Saturday it will be chilly with lows on either side of 30 and highs in the 40s & 50s. This weekend will bring low rain chances and some warming with temps returning to a seasonable range by the end of the 7day planner.

Tonight, mostly cloudy skies with a few areas of wintry mix/ flurries with in & out cloud cover for some. Lows on either side of 40 with a SW/West wind 10-20mph and wind chills falling into the 30s and below freezing.

Wednesday will bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered flurries/mix, becoming a wintry mix and rain after Noon. There will be some clearing in Southwest & South- Central ND and winds will be breezy. Highs in the 50s with a few 40s and a West wind 15-25mph G35. 40% chance for snow/mix with <1″ of accumulation expected for those affected.

Wednesday night, mostly to partly cloudy skies with a few scattered flurries possible before we see skies beginning to clear. Lows in the 30s & below freezing for some with a light to moderate wind out of the West 5-15mph and chills in the 20s.

Thursday will start off chilly with in & out clouds and some clearing for the southern half of our area. Otherwise, scattered flurries/mix will continue for some. Highs in the 40s & 50s with a W/NW wind 10-20mph.

Thursday night, partly to mostly cloudy skies with more clearing and chilly temperatures. Lows on either side of 30 with a NW wind 2-12mph and chills near 20.
