Two Members of Belcourt School Board Suspended

News

Governor Doug Burgum has suspended two members of the seven-member Belcourt School Board after reports of threats and demands made during an audit of the school’s financial records.

The board administers state funding for the Belcourt School District.

In addition, the Turtle Mountain Tribal Council has suspended the entire nine-member school board for the Turtle Mountain Community Schools Board, which administers federal funds for the Belcourt schools.

Burgum suspended Jeremy Laducer and Doug Delorme for what his office called credible reports of threats and demands.

The two men serve on both boards.

The State Auditor’s Office is conducting an audit of the financial records of the school district after a petition was submitted.
