United Way is celebrating another successful year of helping the homeless, youth and elderly in the Bismarck Mandan Area.
In the past year, they’ve opened an emergency homeless shelter, delivered over 2.2 million meals to kids in need, and given tens of thousands of books to kids that would have gone without. We spoke with the executive director about what’s next for the non-profit.
Jena Gullo; Exec Director: “And we struggled this past week to find places to keep people warm and safe. Our community needs a 24-hour shelter. That’s first and foremost. We need a social detox program. We need a one-stop-shop. We can do this, but it’s only when we all pull together.”
They say this was their biggest fundraising year yet, coming in at over 2.8 million dollars.
