Bismarck – A few weeks ago we told you about a winning Powerball ticket that was about to expire.
Well, it looks like the state turned out to be the big winner.
That’s because no one claimed the winning ticket from the October 24th drawing before Monday’s 5 pm deadline.
Lottery officials say the ticket was sold between October 21st and October 24th at the Holiday Stationstore Number 418 in Fargo.
The ticket matched 4 out of the 5 white balls and the red Powerball, meaning the ticket was worth 100-thousand dollars.
Because the money went unclaimed, it will be deposited into the state’s general fund.
Lottery officials tell us it’s exceptionally rare a ticket worth that much money goes unclaimed.
