UTTC Raising Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

While many are celebrating love today, others are mourning a loss. Today UTTC is raising awareness for murdered and missing indigenous women.

The school invited the community to join them as speakers and students explained how this affects their community. From January through July of last year, there have been over 27-hundred reports of missing indigenous women. We spoke with one of the speakers about the message they hope to spread and the changes they want to see.

Sheridan McNeil; Event organizer: “We really need to enter better procedures and better protocols. Also, the data collecting, because right now, there’s very little and really inaccurate data that’s being collected on indigenous people.”

The organizers tell us they plan to keep educating the college and community to raise awareness for this issue.
