A vehicle fire in Williston quickly spread to a nearby building.

Just before 5 this evening, a Chevy pickup truck caught fire. That truck was parked in front of the Williston Academy, a taekwondo facility. The fire quickly spread to that business.

The Williston Fire Department tells us that there were people in the building at the time of the fire, but they were able to safely evacuate. No inuries have been reported.

“In this type of situation, our first priority is to stop the fire from spreading. So we immediately got a knock down on the fire on the outside of the building to save that structure and then extinguish the vehicle fire,” says Assistant Fire Chif Marc Brade, Williston Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Williston Fire Department believes the fire may have originated in the truck’s engine compartment. However, that has not been confirmed.
