Ward County sheriff’s deputies are sporting some new equipment these days.
Several of the officers modeled new vests at the county commission meeting last week.
Sheriff Bob Barnard said the vests were purchased thanks to a grant from the Hess Corporation.
The company says it considers law enforcement to be an important partner is its operations in North Dakota.
(Bob Barnard, Ward County Sheriff) “The purpose of this vest is to get the weight off their hips and put the weight on their shoulders. It’s more ergonomically correct and healthier for them.”
(Brent Lohnes, Hess Corporation ND Operations Mgr.) “The first line of defense is, for us, having proper personal protective equipment which this grant obviously helps support.”>>
