Veterans Get Help Getting Help


PTSD, depression, and loneliness… these are all common issues that veterans around the world have to deal with every single day.

Emily Medalen is live in Minot where members of the community spent the afternoon honoring, thanking, and helping those who have sacrificed so much for us.

Yes Tom and Lauren, it was an exciting day for veterans in the Minot area today as hundreds came to the Dakota Territory Air Museum for Veterans Stand Down.

This afternoon, dozens of vendors set up to inform them about options and benefits that are available to them.
Programs to get members of the community involved with those who have fought, met hundreds of men and women today, and hope to sponsor days like this more often.
One veteran says it’s a special time to bond with those who have shared similar experiences while fighting for our freedom.

(Gary Strandberg, Veteran) “I talk to people I don’t even know, and make friends, you know? I really enjoy it. I think it’s good for the community, it’s good for the people around us, it’s good for the veterans… it just puts a little boost in your spirit, you know what I mean?”

Veterans Stand Down is an annual event, and coordinators say they are working on setting up more than one day for these festivities per year.
