Veterans who may not have been honored on Memorial Day were recognized on Wednesday in Dickinson.
The Stark County Veterans Services Office and District 8 American Legion Riders visited Park Avenue Villa, an assisted living facility in Dickinson, to show their respect to some local veterans.
“It’s great really they appreciate us. What we did,” said Richard Kappel, Army Veteran.
Some of the veterans at the facility didn’t have the means to travel over Memorial Day weekend, so Stark County Veterans Service Officer, Jessica Clifton and District 8 American Legion Riders had a party for the veterans to celebrate their accomplishments and service to our country.
They were also treated to some girls scout cookies by a local troop in Dickinson
“I think the thing that means more is that now veterans are recognized all over the country, and when I came out of the service . . . nobody cared, “said Bob Weiler, Army Veteran.
The Park Avenue Villa has eight veterans living at its facility.
