Every day, thousands of senior citizens around North Dakota get a visit from men and women on a mission.
Meals on Wheels volunteers drop off hot food to people who aren’t able to get out or cook their own meals.
And Tuesday was March 4 Meals day – when local government and business people are asked to pitch in and deliver some meals.
We followed as some regular volunteers as they began their deliveries.
“How’s the food they bring you?”
(Bernadine Schiele, Minot Resident) “I was going to call over there yesterday and tell them it was so good I ate the whole thing in one sitting.”
“I think that’s the idea!”
(Bernadine Schiele, Minot Resident) “Oh boy, it was so good.”
200 to 300 meals are delivered each weekday in the Minot area alone.
You can volunteer one day a month or every day. Just Google Meals on Wheels to find your local agency that would love your help.
