Women and men are invited to wear their favorite pair of heels at Williston State College Saturday.
It’s for the Walk a Mile In Her Shoes event. The purpose is educate the community about the causes of sexual assault and provide prevention strategies. The concept behind Walk a Mile In Her Shoes is that you can’t fully understand another’s experience until you’ve walked a mile in that person’s shoes. And if you don’t have any high heels, you can borrow a pair.
“High heels will be provided. There’s actually shoe fittings and a bin that has all kinds of different high heels and styles and colors,” says Christy Scobee, lead residential coordinator and advocate at the Family Crisis Shelter.
The event will take place at Williston State College April 7th from 11:00am-1:00pm. There will be a free-will donation lunch provided.
